Engineering in a Box

Sixth Class recently completed their 10 week Engineering in a Box programme with two engineers from BAM. They had a brilliant experience learning all about the different strands of engineering and completing all the tasks set! They were thrilled with their gifts from BAM at the end of the programme!

One of the best parts of Engineer’s Week was the visit from members of the army and Hobo the bomb disposal robot!

Great start to Engineering Week in 6th Class

We enjoyed a visit from biomedical engineers from DePuy Synthes in Ringaskiddy, who gave a presentation on their orthopaedic products & explained all about their wind turbines. We then had great fun trying to build our own turbines!

Sixth Class really enjoyed the visit from the army engineers & bomb disposal unit during Engineer’s Week!

Credit Union Annual Schools Table Quiz

Glanmire & District Credit Union Annual Schools Table Quiz, which was held in Scoil Chill Ruadhain on January 29th. Well done to our two Fifth Class and two Sixth Class teams who participated and represented the school on the night.

A Visit from a Young Scientist

Fifth and Sixth Classes really enjoyed the visit of Mark O’Dowd, a Transition Year student from Glanmire Community College, who won an award in the BT Young Scientist Competition and also won an award at the EU Young Scientist Competition in Milan. He explained his project ‘Injury increasing crop yields’ to the classes and gave them some great tips for science and science projects for primary and secondary school.
